Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds – Review + character selection guide - Part 1
Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of the two worlds is a cross over fighting game, which was created by Capcom. As the title of the game suggests, Fate of Two Worlds is the third instalment in the series, but on the whole is the 8th ‘vs’ game developed
by Capcom.
With Fate of Two Worlds, Capcom decided to take the game to a new level and went on to incorporate a three v three tag team style fighting mechanic. Not only did this system make the game a whole lot more fun to play, but the individual matches played out
a little longer, making them a whole lot more fun.
The plot for the game revolves around the fact that Doctor Doom has gone on to team up with Albert Wesker and two have gone on to unite their universes, in order to conquer them both via a combined effort. However, just when the two think they can get away
with their dastardly plan, they end up disturbing Galactus, who has plans of his own. In the end, Doctor Doom and Wesker end up uniting the heroes of the Marvel and Capcom, who need to work together to beat Galactus and save both their universes.
The Gameplay for the game is pretty simplified and is quite easy to grasp. The game features three attack buttons, light medium and hard and when those are combined together with directions and each other, some killer combos are made.
The game also features the ability to perform some brilliant tag moves, which sees one player hit another opponent and then another tag in and continue where the first left off. The game also incorporates a ‘X’ factor this time around. Each player can use
the ‘X’ factor just once in the game. What it does, is that it makes each character stronger, faster and helps them regenerate their health. Depending on how many of your 3 characters are left standing, the ‘X’ factor varies its effect. If you only have one
character left, then they would regenerate much faster and become way quicker than if you had three characters left on the screen.
Each time you hit an opponent, or connect with a combo, you charge up your special gauge, which is positioned in the bottom corner of the screen. When these gauges fill up, it allows your characters to perform hyper combos. Each one of these combos is different
and unique depending on the character that you select.
The bar gets filled up five times, which is the maximum number of specials that you can store. Apart from using just one of the stored 5 specials to perform a hyper combo, players can use three strode specials to perform a level 3 hyper combo. These level
3 moves are the strongest in the game and if mixed up with the ‘X’ Factor, they are bound to get the best of your opponents.
