Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds – Review + character selection guide: Part 4
Wolverine: Brilliant in close combat, lighting quick, but has no ability to use any projectiles.
X-23: Just like Wolverine, only quicker and has the ability to use a lot of aerial attacks with her ground moves as well.
Capcom
Akuma: Good from distance, good in a close up encounter. Powerful, but lacks speed.
Albert Wesker: Really quick, can teleport, shoot using his gun and tosses opponents in the air to set them up for air combos, time and time again.
Amaterasu: Unusually quick and powerful, has a very large variety of moves and once he gets going, it’s close to impossible to stop him.
Arthur: The surprise package of the game. Brilliant from distance, brilliant close up. Has a mixture of speed and the ability to dish out some really powerful moves.
Chris Redfield: Has a mixture of long range and close combat moves, is quite effective and tends to use a lot of weaponry.
Chun-Li: Unusually quick, but not very strong and can be prone to being attacked from behind once she gets stuck in a combo.
Crimson Viper: Has a few very effective moves and is not one of the best characters in the game by a mile.
Dante: Amongst the best in the game. Has a number of long range and short range moves and has both pace and the ability to dish out some powerful moves together. In short, Dante is a player everyone must have on their team.
Felicia: Is quick and funny, but not very effective.
Hsien-Ko: Can use her retractable claws to her advantage, but has a very limited set of moves.
Mike Haggar: Despite being slow, he is very powerful. Has no projectile ability, but is very good in close combat.
Morrigan Aensland: Has a nice ability to use projectiles and is quick. However, her attacks are not very powerful.
Nathan Spencer: Uses his bionic arm to pull of some killer grapples. He is quite good in close combat and over all, quite a decent character to use in the game.
Ryu: Plays out exactly like Akuma, but is quicker than him and a little less powerful.
Trish: The female version of Dante and has the ability to throw her sword as a projectile. Is quite quick and very good from far and close as well.
Tron Bonne: Plays atop a robot, who does all the moves for her. She seems to be fairly harmless at first, but produces some killer moves, which despite taking away a lot of your health, are fun to watch.
Viewtiful Joe: Is a standard character, has a mixture of projectiles and close combat moves, however, given his size, some attacks happen to miss him completely, as they sail over his head.
Zero: Surprisingly good in the game. Is quick and can dish out a good fight. Mixes up his fights with close combat moves and projectiles.
With the ability to use any three characters at once, it is mostly a trial and error job to find the team that is perfect for each different player. However, a team that has power, pace and projectiles is usually very hard to beat.
