Marvin Emnes joins Swansea City on loan
Swansea City has signed Middlesbrough winger and forward Marvin Emnes on loan for one-month.
The 22-year-old has failed to make a huge impression at Middlesbrough since joining the club for £3.2 million from Sparta Rotterdam back in 2008. He says he is delighted to have secured the move.
"I need to play games and that's why I'm here. I spoke to the manager [Brendan Rodgers] before I came and we both agreed that the way Swansea play will suit my style. I like to play on either wing, left
or right, and create one on one situations with defenders because my pace is good for me," said Emnes.
The former Dutch Under-21 international has a lot of skill that should allow him to hit the ground running at Swansea. However, it may take an even bigger move to significantly improve his game.
A lot of skill
Emnes' biggest asset is his versatility. Any player that can play down either side of the pitch will be very popular and useful. This also means he will have more chances to play because he can cover more
areas of the pitch.
He is clearly ambitious to play in a very attacking role. Emnes can also play just off of a main striker in the pockets of space that are very difficult to defend against.
It's also clear that Emnes is a player that wants to play at a very high level. However, he will have to return to Middlesbrough, play well there and then secure an even bigger move before this can happen.
"The team is doing well at the moment and I know I will have to wait for my chance. But I need to play games and that's why I'm here. I heard Swansea tried to get me at the beginning of the season, but
it didn't happen for one reason or another. But I'm here now," he added.
Betting advice
Emnes is a great individual to back in any Championship game. He is effective going forward and can score at any time in any game as well as setting up a number of assists.
