The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international arrives at the Metropole with a lot of expectations on his shoulders and the midfielder is happy to have joined a great project
The transfer of France international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marvin-Martin-c24496, from FC Sochaux Montbeliard to LOSC Lille is so far the biggest transfer inside the French Ligue 1. The 2011 champions of France paid Les Lionceaux almost 10 million euros for the services of a player who would be expecting to do even better than he did at the Bonal.
At the age of 24, Martin has a lot of time to develop into an important player for both club and country.
Replacing a player like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, is not an easy task and many Lille fans expect Martin to step into the young Belgian’s shoes.
Even before the transfer window began, Lille coach, Rudi Garcia had designated the signature of the gifted playmaker as his main priority. And, the arrival of the playmaker indeed means that the club is not going to be fazed by the amount of money Paris Saint-Germain spent this summer.
While talking to the media, Martin had only good things to say about his club and new coach. Martin is impressed by the project at the northern club. The youngster even admitted that had he left his old club last year, he would have left it only for Lille.
"It's flattering and fun. But it is true that the coach was very insistent. I appreciated his perseverance, but especially to his project, his personality. It gives off something when he speaks, one feels that he believes in what he says. If I had gone in the summer of 2011, I'd probably come to Lille. But I did not want to go to the clash with Sochaux at that time."
Despite being followed by a plethora of foreign clubs, Martin chose to sign for the French giants. Lille’s chances of playing in the Champions League next season was a major factor behind the move.
With a five-year contract at the club, it clearly means that there’s a proof of mutual desire for both parties.
Martin says that he is keen to be involved in the club and feels that after the PSG project, the project at Villeneuve d’Ascq is perhaps the most exciting sporting project in France.
