  1. a prime hagler will stop jones late, or win a points decision by cornering the elusive jones jr often enough to land some telling blows which edges the scoring in his favour.

  2. Jones jr by UD. In his prime he was pretty much unstopable fighting good oposition includinf the great middleweight Bernard Hopkins.

Although, hagler was a machine at middleweight blasting through everyone, Untill he fought Leonard. The speed of Ray troubled hagler all through out the fight and for me Leonard won that fight by a long way.

i see this fantasy matchup being similar but easier for Jones than leonard. Roy was a big middle and at the weight i say faster than Ray ever was.

It all depends Hagler could have walked through Roy like he done to so many although i go with Jones UD.

  3. No....NOOOOO no no no. No way it happens that way.

Hagler's demon was speed. He had a noticable problem when he fought Sugar Ray Leonard. Even though Marvin ate Leonards punches like cookies...Ray Leonard at 160 had virtually no power to speak of. Ray still basically hit him at will (keep in mind the wind up bolo punch Hagler took to the gut walking into Ray).  Lets use that as a blueprint to look at this.

Roy Jones at 160 was CONSIDERABLY faster than SRL was...and hit a h**l of alot harder. A young Roy Jones had hair trigger reflexes that allowed him to artfully dodge punches that from where he was standing he shouldnt have been able to. Roy Jones' speed FED into his power...like a bullet. Its how he broke a rib with a single punch. Jones' wouldnt tire out at middleweight...he played a semi pro basketball game prior to fighting someone to prove to everyone what condition he was in.

Yes, absolutely I acknowledge that Ray Leonard was and will be a boxing legend. But there is nothing in Marvin Haglers HISTORY that says he could withstand ANYTHING that Roy Jones could throw at him....and frankly the way Marvin Hagler constantly changed his stances when he got confused or felt he was behind on points...I think that would just play into Jones' favor...he picked up on small things like that and whalloped you while you switched. IF Marvin Hagler took as many punches from Roy Jones as he took from Sugar Ray Leonard...he would slur.

I dont know if Marvin Hagler could get knocked out...I know that Hearns put him down Dizzy Boulevard a couple of times...but if anyone...ANYONE would come close to knocking Hagler out...it would be Jones.

Either way, Hagler couldnt keep with the speed...he never could.
