  1. Visit the history section at http://www.royal.gov/uk

They have information about all of the monarchs.

  2. Something interesting about this two royal girls is that after each of their mothers divorced the king and was executed, both of the passed to be illegitimae daughters (both marriages were considered invalid). Both girls were thrown out of their respective palaces and degraded to the title of Ladies.

Also, any male or female kids from the king with his posterios marriages will precede the girls on the hairess succession line.

It was not until the king married Jane Seymour that at leasr Mary was restablished to thetitle og princess.

  4. Well,

King Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon and he really wanted a son so that he could have an heir. She gave birth to Mary I, and Mary became Catholic just like her mother and father. Since Mary was female, Henry wanted a new wife to give him a male. Catherine's lady-in-waiting, Anne Boleyn, was his choice. Of course, this meant that the pope had to okay the divorice. When he did not, Henry decided to change the whole religion so that he could marry Anne. He changed it to a form of Protestantism and he became the head of the church. He divoriced Catherine and married Anne. Soon, Anne got pregnant and it was another girl: Elizabeth I. She became Protestant as well. Then, Henry made up a lie about Anne cheating on him (when really, he cheated on her a lot) and had her beheaded! Soon, he married Jane Seymore and togther they had Edward VI! Finally, he had an heir. So, he went on to have three other wives, but since you are focusing on Mary and Elizabeth, you don't need to know about them.

When Henry died, Edward became king. I think he was only about nine. He kept England Protestant like his father. He died and Mary I, also known as Bloody Mary, became Queen. She was Catholic (remember, she was born before Henry changed the religion to Protestantism) and resored Catholosism is England. But, she killed many people in the process. That is why she is Bloody Mary. When Mary died not long after taking the throne, Elizabeth was next in line. BUT, one of Mary I's cousins, Mary, Queen of Scots, said that SHE should be queen. See, since the pope did not okay the divorice of Henry and Catherine, Henry was technically still married to Catherine when he married Anne and had Elizabeth. So TECHNICALLY, Elizabeth was illigitamate! She could not be queen. BUT, Elizabeth became queen anyway because she changed the religion BACK to Protestantism. See, if she had kept it Catholic, she could not become Queen! BUT, after all of the bloody terror caused by Mary's change to Catholicism, many people did not want to go back to Protestantism. So, Elizabeth was smart and created a happy medium: the Anglican Church we know today! Mary, Queen of Scots, who still wanted the crown, decided to try and kill Elizabeth. She tried a total of three times, and all of the schemes failed. Elizabeth hated to do it, but Mary was sentanced to death and was beheaded.

The rest became Elizabeth's Golden Age. She won the war against Spain and died without an heir becuase she never wanted a man to take her power away from her.

Oh, and by the way, the reason Henry had such a hard time createing a son was becuase he had syhiffilus.

I hope this helps! I loved learning about her this year in school. Sorry if I spelled a lot wrong!

  5. Mary Tudor was King Henry VIII's daughter by his first wife...Katherine of Aragon...whom  he later divorced in order to marry Anne Boleyn...one of Queen Katherines Ladies in Waiting...after King Henry defied the "Holy Catholic Church" and divorced Queen Katherine in favor of Anne Boelyn she gave birth to Elizabeth I who later Ascended the British Thrown.

  6. See websites attached.

  7. Someone has just said that Henry VIII did not have a male heir! Edward VI succeeded Henry VIII and by so doing allowed hard line protestantism into the previously Catholic Church in England.  Although Henry VIII usurped himself as Head of the Catholic Church in England, it remained Catholic until his death.  Mary succeeded Edward VI  as rightful Monarch (following the rejection of Lady Jane Grey) and restored the Church to Rome.  Her sister Elizabeth succeeded Mary and introduced what we have today, a national Church which is both Catholic and reformed.
