Is it better to be a Maryland State trooper over becoming a county deputy?

You would have better pay and benefits as a trooper, but the level of risk and danger would be higher.

Depends on the County. Montgomery County is starting at over $50K now with bonuses and such.

what do you want to do in law enforcement? although, state troopers help local p.d.s out when they need back up,  a troopers main job is traffic enforcement. a co. deputies job runs the spetrum  of law enforcement (they work in the jail, courtroom security, patrol, detective division, etc.).
