The MCC Young Cricketer’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Bernard-Muchall-c81025, opted to field first after winning the toss. He expected the ball to do some tricks in the first hour’s play and his bowlers responded well, restricting the opposition below 200.
Middlesex 2nd XI got off to a very good start, courtesy openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dan-Housego-c1305 and WJ Prowse before the latter got out after getting a start. He managed 25 runs in his innings off 31 deliveries, with the help of four fours. His wicket was followed
by Sam Robson’s downfall, who collected just seven runs in his http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Short-c90107 stay at the crease.
Adding insult to injury, the next two batsmen were run-out after adding 10 and two runs in their respective outings. Wickets kept on falling in the innings, as the lower-order batsmen failed to cope with the pressure.
Housego batted really well and ended up being the top scorer for his team with 54 runs off 67 balls. He struck five fours in his knock, but was unable to bat until the end.
Gurjit Sandhu scored a fighting 31 from 38 balls with the help of two fours and one towering six. His effort guided the Middlesex 2nd XI to 183 runs, before all the batsmen were sent back to the hut.
Muchall led from the front for his team, picking up a couple of wickets in the match for his side.
The MCC Young Cricketers were given a terrific opening stand by Sean Terry and Omar Ali. The pair attacked the opposition bowlers and scored 94 runs for the first wicket partnership.
However, Terry got out after scoring 47 runs from 61 balls. He struck six boundaries in his knock and played sensibly. His opening partner didn’t waste an opportunity to score a half-century and ended up with 59 runs off 64 deliveries, striking nine fours.
