Marylebone Cricket Club dominant against Nottinghamshire
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) were in a dominant position against Nottinghamshire in a Champion County Match, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. MCC ended day-two at 300 for the loss of just five wickets in their second innings, which gave them an
overall lead of 410 runs.
Earlier, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 managed
to score more than 20 runs, before he got out for 21.
The MCC attack bowlers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamid-Hassan-c1524 were too hot to handle for the batsmen, as they shared nine wickets. Kirby bowled well and took a five wicket haul whereas; Hamid took four wickets in the innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rogers-c1249 gave a steady start to MCC in their second innings, but Rogers failed to capitalise on the start he got to his innings. He got out after adding just 18 runs to the total.
The first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Moore-c2572 joined Peters in the middle and the pair batted sensibly to take their team’s total to 140, with a brilliant 106 run partnership for the second wicket. Moore got out after scoring 61 runs with the help of nine fours.
Two quick wickets fell after that, as Peters and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 got out in a span of just four runs. The MCC opener batted brilliantly for his 57 runs, but Malan failed to open his account in the second innings.
However, wicketkeeper batsman Steve Davies walked out in the middle to join veteran Indian batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321 Dravid. The pair played with effortless ease and guided their team to a match winning position. They amassed a superb 121 run partnership for the fifth
wicket before Davies got out after scoring 64 runs.
At close of second day’s play, Dravid was unbeaten on 81 and he will look to score a century for his team. The other not-out batsman was Mohammad Nabi, who was batting on two when the umpires called the day off.
Jacob Ball was the pick of the bowlers for Nottinghamshire, as he picked up three wickets. He got some support from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Fletcher-c1855, who grabbed two wickets in the innings, but the rest of the bowlers were below par.
It will be hard for the Notts to bounce back from this position, but they will have plenty of time to apply themselves in the middle and challenge the MCC.
