Marylebone Cricket Club in control against Nottinghamshire in Champion County Match
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) were in a very good position in their Champion County Match against Nottinghamshire at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Nottinghamshire were trailing by 132 runs with just two wickets remaining at the close of
the first day’s play.
MCC captain Chris Rogers won the toss and elected to bat first. The conditions were good for batting, but the ball didn’t come onto the bat, which made life difficult for the batsmen.

MCC were in deep trouble with three wickets down for just 17 runs. However, first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 rescued their team from trouble with a solid 51-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Moore failed to capitalise on
the start he got, as he was dismissed for 22 runs.
Wicketkeeper batsman Steve Davies walked out to bat and he provided good support to Malan. The pair put together 57 runs for the fifth wicket before Davies was sent back to the pavilion. The wicketkeeper batsman scored 30 runs in his innings.
The fall of Davies’ wicket triggered a batting collapse, as wickets started to tumble. Malan got out after playing a valiant knock of 71 runs. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Toby-Roland-Jones-c2696 and Hamid Hassan batted well to take their team’s total past the 200-run mark. They
scored cameos of 30 and 26 respectively.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 did a very good job for their team, as they took four wickets each in the innings, restricting MCC to 218.
In reply to the first innings total of MCC, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Franks-c2163 was unbeaten on 20 at close
of play.
Other than that, four batsmen from the top seven were out for a duck, leaving their team in trouble at 86 for the loss of eight wickets. Franks will be hoping to get some support from the tail-enders and take his team’s total closer to the first innings
aggregate of MCC.
