Masada Scolari bags victory in 420m Grade A1 Heat at Peterborough on Feb 1
Like all other towns of England, the city of Peterborough also produced quality entertainment for the fans of greyhound racing on Wednesday. In an exciting 420 metre long Grade A1 event, the spectators witnessed a marvellous performance by Masada Scolari,
trained by D R Pruhs.
The black dog, Droopys Scolari’s son out of Kyle Atrium, unleashed a brilliant performance to take victory by a handsome margin of 2 ¾ lengths. He dominated the show from pillar to post, covering the area in 25.16 seconds. The hound was holding the
winning chances of 5 to 2, as he stepped out on the track from the fourth trap.
Despite not being the favourite, Masada Scolari performed outstandingly, and gathered a lot of admiration from his connections. He was chased by Dee Double You, who was carrying the starting price of 3 to 1.
The black hound ran at a decent pace, but it was not easy for him to match the speed of the triumphant. Westmead Hawk’s son out of Droopys Lomasi, reached the finishing line in 25.39 seconds.
H. J. Dimmock would have been satisfied with his hound’s act, as his trainee managed to beat the favourite by a head’s margin. Holding the highest betting odds of 5 to 4, Killacolla Pedro was the most preferred hound ahead of the competition.
However, he could not deliver what was expected from him, clocking the area in 25.41 seconds. P. Ward’s trainee ran clearly on the track, but his pace was not sufficient to nab the top slot.
The fourth placed hound, Ardkill Sweep, remained behind by a short head’s distance. The black dog was sent off with the winning probability of 6 to 1, breaking in from the second stall. He took 25.42 seconds to bridge the distance.
The fifth and final position went to Beechwood Marge – the only female participant in the contest. Droopys Vieri’s daughter out of Droopys Maddy, whose odds were 5 to 1, failed to put in a fine effort, making it to the other end of the track in 25.55
seconds.
After securing third position in three consecutive races, Masada Scolari finally managed to deliver a winning performance. This success would have earned him slightly better odds in the coming races.
