Masafumi Yamaguchi and Chad Le Clos impress at the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
Japan’s Masafumi Yamaguchi and South Africa’s Chad Le Clos gave their best efforts in the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series, conducted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from October 7-8. The session of the competition organised the Men’s 100m back-stroke
and Men’s 400m IM heats series.
At the beginning, Yamaguchi posted the fastest mark of 53.14 seconds to win the 100m back-stroke heat. Brazil’s Nelson Silva Junior wound up second in a time of 55.19 seconds, while Kristian Kron of Sweden settled for third spot in a time of 56.18 seconds.
Russia’s Evgeny Korotyshkin finished fourth with a time of 56.39 seconds, whereas, United Arab Emirates’ Mohammad Ghaferi Al Humaid settled for fifth spot in a time of 57.61 seconds.
Additionally, Aiman Al Kulaibi of Oman wound up sixth with a mark of 59.43 seconds and Syria’s Ayman Klzie earned seventh position with a time of 1 minute and 00.02 seconds. Moreover, India’s Babu Pranam earned eight spot with a mark of 1 minute and 02.68
seconds and United Arab Emirates’ Mahmood Ismail Farooq finished ninth in a time of 1 minute and 03.80 seconds. Finally, Kayan Bharucha of United Arab Emirates settled for tenth position in a time of 1 minute and 06.61 seconds.
The Men’s 400m Individual Medley heat was clinched by South Africa’s Chad Le Clos with an inspiring mark of 4 minutes and 04.58 seconds. Meanwhile, Austria’s Dinko Jukic wound up second with a time of 4 minutes and 05.65 seconds and Germany’s Marco Koch
settled for third spot in a time of 4 minutes and 12.27 seconds.
Ukraine’s Maksym Shemberev earned fourth position with a spot of 4 minutes and 12.78 seconds, while Russia’s s***n Makovich settled fifth in 4 minutes and 17.48 seconds. Aravind Mani of India finished sixth in 4 minutes and 43.10 seconds, whereas, Singapore’s
Aaron Teo ended his swim seventh with a mark of 4 minutes and 47.17 seconds. Alistair Allan of the United Arab Emirates wound up eighth in a time of 4 minutes and 48.38 seconds.
All athletes took a huge ovation from the crowd due to their wonderful swims in the heats, while the winners confirmed their places for the final meets after the session’s completion. The 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup is a seven stop series which will host
the next round in Stockholm, Sweden, from October 15-16.
