Dimitri Mascarenhas banned from county cricket for 14 days
English county cricketer, Dimitri Mascarenhas, has been banned from playing county cricket for 14 days after his recent outburst against the national selector, Geoff Miller. Mascarenhas will now have to
miss 14 days of county cricket at the start of the next season, following his abusive rant at the selector.

Mascarenhas had already been fined £1,000 by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 county and had to appear in a hearing conducted by the English cricket board. Mascarenhas, who has also played international cricket for the English
side pleaded guilty to two charges of the personal attack on Miller. These include that they were against the cricket board’s directive and brought the game into disrepute. He was also asked to pay a further £500 towards the costs of the hearing.

The issue had begun earlier last week when an angry Mascarenhas had tweeted on his Twitter account about how the selector had come to the ground where he was present and refused to acknowledge the player’s
presence. He had followed it up with another foul-mouthed rant eight hours later.

Mascarenhas had first written, "Chairman of selectors came to Liverpool and didn't even come and say hi...what a [expletive]. Doesn't take much to say hello, does it." He then added, "Geoff Miller is a complete
[expletive]. He had no clue what he is doing. Fing [expletive]."

The 14-day ban comes as a blow to Mascarenhas, who has already missed most of the 2010 season due to his Achilles Heel injury and was recuperating to get back into action. He had earlier been a part of the
English side, but continuous injuries and the good form of Luke Wright had pushed him out of the team.

Mascarenhas had also become the first Englishman to play in the Indian Premier League when in 2008 he was selected by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals.

Earlier, even Kevin Pietersen had tweeted against the chief selector when he was dropped for the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, and was later fined by the English cricket board.
