Mascarenhas foul-mouths selector Miller on Twitter
England’s all-rounder, Dimitri Mascarenhas has become the latest cricketer to join the list of those who have used the social networking site Twitter to voice their grievance against a selector. An angry Mascarenhas tweeted twice in a span of a day against the English selector, Geoff Miller.
Mascarenhas, who has missed most of the ongoing cricket season for Hampshire due to an injury, was part of the squad in a game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806. However, he had not made it to the playing eleven, so when the English selector passed by, he did not acknowledge the cricketer’s presence. This seemed to have enraged Mascarenhas and he tweeted for the first time: “chairman of selectors came to Liverpool and didn't even come and say hi.. what a p****.. Doesn't take much to say hello does it?”
To top it all, it was not just a spur of the moment decision that saw him say this. He followed it up with another equally foul-mouthed tweet, eight hours later which said, “Geoff Miller is a complete k***.. He had no clue what he is doing.. Fing p****....”
The tweets were later removed from the account, but the damage had been done. They were reposted online and will probably not endear him to the selector.
This is the second time in as many weeks that an English cricketer has foul-mouthed Miller on Twitter. Earlier, after being axed from the English side, Kevin Pietersen had said, “Yep...Done for the rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too...It’s a f**k up!!” He then removed the posts from his account, and apologised to the selector and the cricket board.
Mascarenhas has played 20 ODIs and 14 T20Is for England. He is an all-rounder who can bowl medium pace, bat in the lower-middle orde,r and smash the ball really hard. However, his batting average of 22 in ODIs, and bowling average of 48, combined with the presence of another player of the same type in the team, Luke Wright, has meant that the opportunities for Mascarenhas have been sporadic.
Mascarenhas was also the first Englishman to play in the IPL, when he was signed on by Shane Warne’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 in the first edition of the tournament. No other English cricketer had played in that edition of the IPL. Mascarenhas’s strength is his ability to maintain the line and the length and dry up the runs in the middle overs.
