Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071, believes that the positive feeling his teammates got from last Sunday’s El Clasico game was more important than any points they could have gotten from the match.
Mascherano believes that Barca could have come away with all the points from the game but the mentality of his teammates after the Clasico match means more and everything to the club.
Talking to Barca TV, Mascherano said: “We could have just gone out there with hope but walking off the pitch feeling positive is more important.”
The Catalans are in short supply of central defenders as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 are both sidelined due to their respective injuries.
When asked about his role in the team and whether he is the first choice central defender for the new Barca coach, Tito Vilanova, Mascherano maintained that his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 is always to deliver whenever and whereever needed and that Barca are getting better under
Tito and are continuing what they have been doing for the past few years.
“I’m here so that when something happens I can go on the pitch and do a job”, he said.
“When the season started people were wondering what would happen in this new era but we are still the same http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.”
He also talked about the main reason behind the selection of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 in the Clasico match.
Mascherano explained that the rationale is that Adriano can quicky adapt to the situation since he has been with the club for sometime now while Song has recently arrived.
“He can adapt as he's quick and for two years has had experience of how we play than Song”, he admitted.
What is more important for Mascherano is to see this club doing well while at the same time continuing the legacy Pep Guardiola has left behind.
“The most important thing is that we are still a team and that we intend to carry on doing what we have done in recent years", he concluded.
Barcelona will travel to Deportivo on October 20th as the Spanish La Liga will kick off after the international break.
