Barcelona faced Chelsea in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final and lost to the Blues at the Stamford Bridge.
The Catalan giants are currently favourites to win the UEFA Champions League this season, but Chelsea were able to put a dent to their title ambitions after winning the first leg 1-0 at home.
Barcelona created a number of goal scoring opportunities but at the end they had to rue the missed chances after players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 failed to find the back of the net, despite being
in good goal scoring positions.
After losing out to Chelsea in the first leg of the competition, Javier Mascherano believes that with the second leg still left in the European competition, Barcelona still stand a chance of qualifying in the final.
Barcelona have to host Chelsea at the Nou Camp next week and with Chelsea winning the first leg, the two-legged tie between the two European giants is now even more interesting.
Javier Mascherano, despite losing out to the Blues, said that he is not regretting the loss as there is still a game left to play between the two sides. Moreover, he said that it is in Barcelona’s hands to make or break their season this week, as they have
to play Real Madrid and Chelsea in the coming 7 days.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 asked his team-mates to concentrate on the return leg and the Clasico which is going to take place on Saturday.
“No regrets,” Mascherano said.
“This is the result and now it just depends on us. It’s in our hands.
“We have to try to win knowing that we cannot grant them any opportunities to score a goal.
“We have to keep our concentration in order to protect our goal and thus give the forwards freedom to attack and score.”
Barcelona will be playing against their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, on Saturday and in order to come close to winning their fourth consecutive Spanish La Liga, the Catalans will have to beat Los Blancos at the Nou Camp.
