The Argentine international has hit out at the Blancos boss, stating that his claims regarding Messi and Ronaldo are baseless.
Barcelona’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 has taken out time to rebuff a recent statement made by the Real Madrid head coach, Jose Mourinho.
Earlier this week, the Portuguese mentor made claims that Los Blancos superstar, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
Mourinho insisted that his compatriot deserves the coveted accolade as his goals for Los Merengues were more vital as compared to Messi's.
The manager took a jibe at the current Ballon d'Or holder, stressing that even though he is the highest goal-scorer across Europe, his goals hardly meant anything since the Catalans were unable to secure significant success in the Spanish La Liga along with
the UEFA Champions League.
However, Mascherano has jumped to the defence of his side’s most influential player.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 player openly expressed that Mourinho’s words were of little importance as they meant nothing to him.
The Argentine emphasized that his compatriots exploits this season have been more than amazing, insisting that Messi’s goal-scoring ability is out of the world and claiming that the Golden Boot winner has deserved all the success that has come his way.
The Rosario native managed to break two significant records this season. Not only did he become the highest scorer in the history of La Blaugrana, he was also capable of scoring the most number of goals in one season across Europe.
The Argentine skipper has found the net 72 times this term and has set a new record.
While talking to reporters, Mascherano quoted:
"I don't value Mourinho's words. I have nothing to say. Last year the 40 goals scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 were worth something [according to Mourinho] and this year the 50 scored by Messi are worthless?  People can say what they like. For me it has merit, because
we have won three titles, which is a lot.
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leo-c22011 deserves to win [the Ballon d'Or] because he has achieved a tally not seen since the 1930s. We're talking about a guy who has broken a record 70 or 80 years old. What better reward can he have than the Ballon d'Or?"
Will Mascherano’s words spark another war of words between his side and the current Spanish champions? We can only wait and speculate.
