Mashonaland Eagles v Southern Rocks – Logan Cup – Match Update (Day 1)

Slater and Mutumbami joined forces for a solid 78-run 4th-wicket stand – Slater struck a total of 9 boundaries during his innings, while Mutumbami smashed 13. Their combined efforts got the team total up to 197 – however, Slater was finally dislodged in the 70th over, caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CJ-Chibhabha-c1263 (7-1-19-1).
Despite the abrupt dismissal, Mutumbami soldiered on and kept the innings moving forward. Peter Burgoyne (8*) was next up to bat, and Mutumbami teamed up with him for an unbeaten 62-run partnership for the 5th wicket.
Most of the Eagles' bowlers, save skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Matsikenyeri-c2395 (2-0-14-0), managed to register effective performances, with decent economy rates. However, by stumps on Day 1, with 4 wickets down and by the end of 90 overs, the Rocks managed to reach a substantial 259.
