Mason Tobin makes it to the final Texas Rangers’ 25-man list – MLB Update
Mason Tobin was hoping for some positive news and it came in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The hard ball player was finally given the green-light to make his case for a Major League Baseball role and that is something he was more than looking forward to,
in spring training. With a good number of days cut from his career due to injury, the player now finally has the chance to do bigger things.
The player was picked up from the ‘Rule 5 Draft’ and it was the intention of the Rangers to utilize him effectively, paying out $25,000 to the Los Angeles Angels for his services. Luckily for the player, those intentions have carried off to be true. His
last two seasons have been marred by three elbow surgeries on his right arm.
"After my second [surgery], I was more worried about getting back to being normal, back in a normal life with a normal elbow," Tobin said. "I was doing everything I wanted to do and took it from there. Then, shortly after, the Rangers picked me up in the
Rule 5 [Draft] and it was time to get going. I still got tons to prove. I haven't done anything yet. Because I'm on the 25-man doesn't mean I'm going to be there forever."
Tobin was not the only one to be selected for the 2011 Major League Baseball campaign, as Pedro Strop and Alexi Ogando have been added on to the attack for more leverage. While bull-pen decisions will be made later on, David Bush is another name that may
come into the attack when the club season kicks off. For the Rangers, the opportunity it gives out to the new coming pitcher is paramount.
The Rangers need the best from their squad members and Tobin is one player who will prove his merit to the club and his peers when the calling comes for him to start this season. Manager Ron Washington has a hard task on hand as most of his premier pitching
options are diminished. With Tommy Hunter and Brandon Webb out of attack, the conditions are wavering.
