BioWare have announced that the demo for the third instalment in the Mass Effect series is available for download on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Ever since the trailer for Mass Effect 3 was shown at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, the speculation and media attention the game received was nothing short of phenomenal.
The developers, BioWare, and the publishers, Electronic Arts, though have been shy in terms of keeping the flow of news, relating to the game, steady and consistent.
There was the controversial news of players able to have same-s*x relationships in the game, as well as news of cooperative online gameplay as well, which many fans did not like the sound of. They believed that the multiplayer component would take away from
the game’s single player experience.
News about pre-order bonuses came thick and fast after that, which were sure to boost the pre-release sales figures.
A major story was the fact that EA were set to release Mass Effect Infiltrator on iOS devices, with the screenshots of the game looking absolutely stunning. However, without any gameplay videos or trailers for the game it would be unwise to jump to any conclusions,
but for the moment the game has caught the eye.
As for Mass Effect 3, well, gamers have had plenty of screen shots and trailers of the game but will now finally get the chance to try it out for themselves as BioWare have stated that the demo is now available for download.
A statement of their blog gives a very enticing sales pitch for the demo, “The demo begins in dramatic fashion with the spectacular attack on Earth, followed by a mid-game section showcasing the groundbreaking interactive storytelling, adrenaline-pumping
action, ruthless and intelligent enemies, and deep customization that makes Mass Effect 3 the must-have title of 2012.”
The demo is only available via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the file size is around the 1.76GB mark, so it would be best to clear up some space on the Hard disk before downloading the file.
As for those who do not have the online pass that came with Battlefield, it turns out that they will have to wait until the 17th of Feb till they can get their hands on the demo.
