Mass Effect 4 and off-shoots of the popular series are a near certainty if Casey Hudson, one of the producers of the Mass Effect series, is to be believed. Is there any reason not to?
Electronic Arts and BioWare are set to release what will be one of the most eagerly anticipated games of 2012 with the third instalment of their popular series and the conclusion to Sam Shepard’s trilogy.
That game is none other than Mass Effect 3 and for those who do not know who Sam Shepard is, well he happens to be the main protagonist of the game and yes, players have the option to choose whether Sam is a man or a woman, which is smart considering the
fact that the name Sam works for both genders.
No bit of news about Mass Effect would be complete without the mention of the fact that players can opt to ‘couple’ with a partner who happens to be of the same gender. What gamers make of that is completely up to them, though it is surely going to be a
controversial gameplay dynamic.
Yet, for those fans who have a bittersweet feeling about Mass Effect 3 with the game being the end of the series, it seems they need not fear as Casey Hudson, the producer of the series, is sure there will be more titles that will expand on the ME universe.
“We’re probably too busy to feel sad it’s over right now.” He said, in an almost cold fashion before continuing in the same tone, “I don’t think I’ll be sad.”
He went on to explain that they were still working on the game in order to give the final chapter of Sam Shepard’s trilogy a high level of polish.
“We’re not done yet, and I don’t know what the final experience will be, but I’m pretty sure Mass Effect 3 is the best in the series.” He continued, “We had ambitious goals, but to make a whole series that spans recessions, BioWare’s independence, different
publishers...Well, we did it in the end.”
Yet, what will excite fans is what the producer said next, “We don’t know exactly, but there will be more Mass Effect for Mass Effect fans, I’m sure.”
