EA and BioWare’s final instalment in the trilogy clocks in at just less than two days and will be the conclusion to Sam Shepard’s storyline in the game’s universe.
The first review of what many are claiming to be the biggest game of the year, Mass Effect 3, has been published and not only does it shower the game with praise but it also teases bits of the story as well.
Mass Effect 3 may not hit shelves for another couple of weeks but a number of review sites have been able to play and finish the game.
First things first, the game’s main storyline is said to clock in at around 40 hours, which is around the same length Batman: Arkham City was said to be. That should put to rest any fears from the community about the added multiplayer component taking away
from the main strength of the series.
As for the ending, well according to the review the game ties everything up nicely but there is a sequence after the credits, which leaves room for the series to continue.
Whether it is anything like the Dante’s Inferno or Killzone 3 ending is unclear at this point and to be honest we are sure the gamer would rather play through it than read about it on the internet.
The review also points out the RPG elements of the game rely are more similar to those in Mass Effect 1 while at the same time Mass Effect 2 seems to be the primary inspiration for the level design in the game.
The review states that the game has more than, “100 scenes, conversations and/or events change depending on our choices after importing a save-game from ME2 (Mass Effect 2).”
BioWare, the game’s developer, and EA, the game’s publisher, urged players to keep their Mass Effect 2 saves on their hard drives as they would play a role in the next instalment of the game. It turns out that the ‘role’ is quite a considerable one.
Judging from the early review Mass Effect 3 seems as if it is going to live up to the dizzying hype that surrounds it and with release just a few weeks away it is almost time for Sam Shepard’s final adventure.
