Mass Effect Film set for Comic-Con, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 confirmed for GamesCom
Fans of every video game genre have reason to be both, thrilled and excited, for this year’s GamesCom in August. One of the oldest gaming franchises is set for a return with Diablo 3 set to feature prominently at the event, as well as more juicy information
and hopefully, some gameplay of the latest iteration of the Starcraft series with Heart of the Swarm.
While those two will surely excite everyone in attendance, there is, however, the more precarious occasion of the Mass Effect movie, which is set to make an appearance at Comic-Con. Fans of the series, and video games in general, will be vary after recent
adaptations of video games into feature length films have fallen short of expectations on more than one occasion. Who could forget the appalling disappointment Max Payne brought for the game fans.
However, it seems serious efforts are being put into making Mass Effect’s adaption one which everyone can enjoy. The studio behind the project is Legendary Pictures, which was responsible for some of the most memorable cinematic experiences in recent history,
with Inception and The Dark Knight just two titles off their impressive repertoire.
However, neither Legendary Pictures nor Bioware disclosed the timing or the location of the screening, meaning there will be plenty of ‘treasure hunting’ Mass Effect fans running all over the conference. You have been warned.
Blizzard also announced their stellar line up for this year’s GamesCom event, which will take place in Germany, on their official website.
The statement said, "The world's largest gaming convention will be held this year in Cologne, Germany, from 18 to 21 August, and Blizzard Entertainment's massively mark its presence there."
Continuing with the statement, Blizzard explained how they had a host of activities and events planned for every fan of their various titles, "We have prepared for you, not just exhibition matches, live raids, competitions and other attractions, but also
three great games, in which every visitor will be able to play."
Rather than leaving room for speculation and rumours, Blizzard went ahead and revealed their line up as well, "GamesCom present at this year's Diablo III, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and for the first time in a playable version in Europe, Starcraft II:
Heart of the Swarm."
With titles like that all in the same place, it has to be a dream come true for anyone who loves spending his time, and hard earned money, in the different worlds Blizzard has created.
The best was saved for last though as they also announced that a playable version of their latest title, Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm would also be present at the event. Fans of the Diablo series though, will have to wait slightly longer before they can
get their hands on a playable version of their favourite game.
