(a)Assuming that each cubic centimeter of water has a mass of exactly 1 g, find the mass of one cubic meter of water in kilograms, (b) Suppose that it takes 10.0 hours to drain a container of 5700 m^3 of water. What is the "mass flow rate" in kilograms per second, of water from the container?

The answers are (a) 10^3 kg and (b) 158 kg/s

Could you please show me the steps involved with solving these problems?

  1. a) 1 m^3 =10^6cm^3= 10^6g =10^3 kg

    b) 5700m^3 = 5700*10^3=5.7*10^6kg

    10 hours = 10*60*60=36000s= 3.6*10^4s

    so 5.7*10^6/3.6*10^4= 158 kg/s
