I had a pair of closed-toed black shoes and I slipped my feet into them. I immediately felt excruciating pain and i pulled my foot out and there was something black on my foot. I really didn't get a good look at it but I think it was all black and kind of round-looking but I'm not sure because I quickly brushed it off and panicked a little. My toe swelled up and it was so painful I went to the emergency room. I've never been stung by anything before but it was the same pain I felt when I broke my arm. When I first got stung (or bit) I noticed one red dot on my toe, then it went away. I'm not sure if it had wings or not because it all happened so fast. I thought maybe a female carpenter bee but I really don't know. Does anybody know what it is that stung me? It happened yesterday at 4:30 pm and it is still painful and uncomfortable.

  1. Might have been a black widow spider, hard to tell by your description

  2. It sounds similar to a velvet ant, which is actually a solitary wasp.  Take a look at this site, yo may find the culprit.
