Question:

Massachusetts adoption from DSS?

Has anyone successfully adopted from DSS in Ma?

I would like to start the process, but have heard many conflicting things.

I would like specifics, on the pros and cons of the process. Also if you would recommend how to proceed with the process of adoption.

Please feel free to privately email me, since I'm sure this isn't the place most people want to discuss this topic.

Only first hand info., please, not my friend adopted and...... Thanks!

  1. Hi, JS B,

275 children were adopted from DSS in MA on National Adoption Day alone, Nov. 16 this year.  Please call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or 800-882-1176.  You can also visit our website at www.mareinc.org.  We're the central clearing house for information on adoption from foster care in MA, and we can advise you on the process and let you know of Information Nights where you can hear the pros and cons first hand from those who have adopted.  You might want to attend a meeting tomorrow:

    DSS Metro Regional Informational Meetings

    Wednesday, December 12, 2007

    6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

DSS Metro Regional Office, 30 Mystic Street, Arlington, MA

For more information or to RSVP, please call their office at 781-641-8275.

Meetings are held on a monthly basis to provide information to individuals and families about the process of becoming foster or adoptive parents through the Department of Social Services.

Let us know how we can help.

  2. No, can't say that I have.  But, good luck!!

  3. I have never adopted a child but I have had a grandson stole by a adoption agency and a couple (they aren't his parents, will not and can not adopt him )

His natural father has the right to see him every month and the summer so far. Every other Christmas etc.

So make sure the natural- birth father is aware of your and the mothers plans.Or your be in court alot and out a lot of money.  Good luck with your adoption all children need good homes.
