Question:

Massachusetts in State Tuition?

I'm planning on moving into an apartment in Massachusetts for college. Since I'll be changing my legal address to the apartment address, and I won't be living on Campus, can I gain instate tuition? If so, how many years will it take?

  1. No, you would still be charged out-of-state tuition.  Most schools make it very difficult to change your residency status once enrolled (I imagine Mass is very strict).  Just because you are not on campus doesn't mean you are a permanent resident.

Most schools require a year or sometimes TWO living in that state (WHILE NOT ATTENDING COLLEGE) to be classified as a resident as well as a number of other things.

    Sorry.
