Looking at interviewing with the company MASSAGE ENVY as a clinic administrator. How much does the company typically pay in salary and what are typical commissions and bonuses for this position?

  1. Take a look at the company philosophy of "anyone should be able to afford a massage" and answer the question yourself.  This is a large, corporate structure.  They want lots of people to pay as little as possible for their service, then rely on "tips" to supplement the MTs income.  If you are a really good MT, then the time and tips is worth the effort.  If you are administrative staff, you are locked-in to what they think you are worth according to company averages and maybe performance bonuses.  In one respect, they are doing very well on the open market because another company just bought the shares, however, it may be worth more to the investors rather than the staff that is creating all this investment worth.  I do not work for Massage Envy and have only heard comments through short conversations with staff so all of this is speculation however, I hope it gives you some additional information to help you think a little differently about your decision.  It may work well for you in the short term, but you may hit a salary limit fairly quick because it is a pretty safe bet that they will take care of their investors way before salary increases will hold-fast.  Best wishes.

  2. I went to massage envy and as a patron, it feels like its a massage mill. I went a few times, because of a contract my husband bought me and every massage therapist was really bad. I know this is off the subject a little.  One massage therapist told me they didnt pay well and she was unhappy.
