The Milan midfielder has had an illustrious career with the Rossoneri and opined that the head coach did not regard him as a player anymore, so he had to leave.

Gattuso has broken his silence over his Rossoneri departure and commented that they were deemed surplus to requirements by the head coach, Massimiliano Allegri.
The World Cup winning Italian hero was talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport and during his interview, he went on to state that he was no longer required by the club, and also stated:
"The reason why Nesta and I left is because we got the feeling that we were no longer needed by Allegri. When someone like the coach makes it clear to you that he prefers you as a coach or as a helping hand in the dressing room, the time has come to leave.”
Gatusso feels he has still a lot to offer on the playing field and is of the opinion that the time has not set on his footballing career. He remarked that he held no ill intentions towards anyone, and that he had been privileged to be playing for the red
and black stripes of the Milanello, and commented:
