The Rossoneri boss has backed the former Ajax star in the full-back role, and tips Juventus as Milan’s main title challengers.
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, is delighted with his team’s win over Novara, and insists that they are real Scudetto contenders alongside Juventus.
The Rossoneri defeated the relegation strugglers 3-0 at Stadio Silvio Piola on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robinho-c31382 scored the other goal of the game.
The Italian Champions finished the half-way stage of the ongoing season trailing leaders, Juventus by one point, but Allegri is satisfied with his team’s performances thus far. The manager insisted that his team have reached their
mid-season objectives of earning 40 points.
Allegri insisted that several other teams such as AS Roma, Inter Milan and Udinese are performing extremely well, but he considers Juventus as their real title challengers.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri said,
“We were forced to get the three points today in order to reach 40 points, which was the target we had set ourselves despite a tough start to the campaign. We are the favourites for the Scudetto along with Juventus, even if one
shouldn’t forget teams doing well like Udinese, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567.”
The tactician backed midfielder, Urby Emanuelson, after failing to impress in the trequartista role against Novara. The midfielder was shifted to full-back role, and Stephan El-Shaarawy was brought in the hole behind the striker.
Allegri insisted that Emanuelson is an important member in his squad, and the criticism on him is not justified. He admitted that the Amsterdam born midfielder played well in the left-back role, and he could be deployed in this position in future.
“It is not easy for him to play ‘in the hole,’ seeing as he has mainly been out wide in his career. He did decidedly better as a full-back today, but Emanuelson remains a very important player in whatever his position.”
The manager also hailed El-Shaarawy’s contributions after coming off the bench to inspire his team to a comfortable win.
A.C Milan will host Cagliari in their next game on Sunday, January 29, 2012. The Champions are currently placed 2nd in the league table.
