The former head coach of Cagliari has vociferously defended his decision to field a new formation but remarked that it will not be the only formation they use.
The Italian giants have had their worst start to a Serie A season since the 1940s, where they have only managed to secure seven points from the eight games they have played so far in the Lega. However, the only ray of hope for an otherwise abysmal run in
domestic competition was that they had a good start to the Champions League group stages, having collected four points from a possible six from their two matches in the Serie A.
After an early hiccup at the San Siro outfit in the Champions League group opener, where the Rossoneri outfit shared spoils in a goalless match against the Belgian powerhouse, Anderlecht. They were able to win a thrilling match away in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 when they faced
off Zenit St Petersburg.
Coming from the disappointment in the Serie A, after consistent losses from match day 5, Allegri knew he had to change tactics in his match against Malaga. Minor alterations to the team were expected but a change to a totally new formation was not foreseen,
and there has been mixed reviews to the 3-4-3 formation they started off with, in the match.
This has been the first time that Milan have played with this formation (in recent history) and they have not particularly used the approach of starting with wing-backs in their team. Had they won the match away to Malaga, it would have been a different
story altogether, however, the fact of the matter was that they lost and there is a lot of criticism mounting against the head coach.
Allegri commented on the rationale he used in the match, and remarked that there were areas where improvement was required and commented:
“I think the team is more protected with this system and of course we will improve with practice. That’s not to say we won’t ever return to four at the back, but right now we need to find some balance. The lads gave all they possibly could. We have to improve
in the final third, where we often get it wrong, but the team played a good game. I used this system so the wing-backs could get to the by-line and provide more service for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giampaolo-Pazzini-c14802.”
The Rossoneri head coach was talking to Mediaset after the match in Malaga.
