The Diavolo boss is delighted with the win over Lecce and lead at the top of the Serie A table; laughs off talks of a rift with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri is surprised to be sitting four points clear at the top of the Serie A standings.
The Rossoneri defeated Lecce 2-0 in round 27 game at San Siro on Sunday, March 11. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Nocerino-c6332 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored for the Italian Champions. Milan’s title rivals, Juventus, drew their respective weekend game, which means that the Diavolo extend their lead to four points at the top of the table.
Allegri has revealed that he did not expect his team to take such a big lead after the weekend, and he is delighted to see the Rossoneri in a comfortable position at the top. However, the tactician has warned his side against complacency, insisting that they cannot afford to rest on the laurels of their current form.
The 44-year-old insisted that Milan started the game very well, and looked to eliminate the mistakes they made in the recent UEFA Champions League game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri said:
“It was important for us to win today, as that would ensure the two-point advantage remained intact, but instead we have four points. There’s a long way to go. We played well, especially at the start. We did risk conceding an equaliser, as games do get complicated if you don’t finish them off, as we saw in London. If we don’t score then we have to carry on playing and try to be more determined.”
The former Cagliari boss also rejected reports of his rift with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, and insisted that he enjoys a good rapport with the Swedish striker.
“As for Ibra, thankfully these stories emerge every now and then, otherwise it gets boring! Nothing happened, as it’s normal there are discussions between a Coach and his players.”
With only 11 matches left to play in the season, the Rossoneri are on course to defend their Scudetto.
Milan will face Parma in their next league game at Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday, March 17.
