The Rossoneri boss is concerned that his side is not performing to the best of their abilities, and begs the Italian Champions to “stay calm”.
Pressure is starting to mount on AC Milan after regular defeats against the top teams. The Milanese side has come under greater scrutiny after their recent defeat to league rivals, Juventus, in the first-leg of the Coppa Italia.
Milan suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first-leg of the Italian Cup at San Siro on Wednesday, February 8. The former Cagliari boss is lamenting his team’s performance, insisting that they conceded a cheap goal in the dying minutes of the game.
Commenting on the match against Juve, Allegri told RAI Sport,
“We conceded the second goal in a very naive way. It’s a shame to lose a game that we had played well in the second half, although Juventus did too.”
While reflecting on his team’s performance in the match, the Italian believes that his side pushed for the win after Stephan El-Shaarawy brought them on level terms. They sought victory in the match and in their hunt for that elusive goal, Juventus hit them
on the counter-attack and scored the winner.
During the interview, Allegri added,
“After the equaliser we pushed forward with too much passion and were punished on the counter-attack.”
Despite his side’s recent dip in form, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 midfielder remains optimistic about Milan’s chances of winning the Italian Cup. He advocates that there is an essential need for everyone at the club to remain calm and have faith in their abilities.
He further commented,
“We have lost a few too many times recently, but must stay calm and confident of our own abilities, especially as we have an injury crisis on our hands and many players cannot rest the way they ought to.”
The second-leg of the Coppa Italia will be played at Juventus Stadium on March 21.
The Rossoneri face a tough challenge in their next Serie A encounter, as they face title contenders, Udinese, on Saturday, February 11.
