The mentor of the current stand-in coach of Juventus has remarked that Carrera always had the spark and ambition of being a coach in the future, and wishes him well.
The former Atalanta coach has gone on to state that Massimo Carrera was destined to be a future coach, and he had sensed this capability in him while he was playing under him at the Orobici. Mondonico replied that the way the player evaluated and assessed
scenarios was from the vision of a coach, which helped him in his playing days as well.
He further went on to state that Carrera was looking to take up coaching by the end of his career and he had an astute grip over the situations in question. He further went on to discuss that the assistant coach was doing this in the best way possible, and
the suspension of Antonio Conte, has worked to his benefit as he can get hands on experience at coaching at the highest level possible.
For the moment, Massimo Carrera is simply deputising for Conte who has been banned from the playing field during matches and even the dressing room during half time. This has limited the role of the head coach of the Bianconeri outfit who trains the Juve
squad at their training base.
The Bianconeri have done quite well at the start of this season, and have not lost any of the matches they have competed in so far. They have maximum points from the Serie A, and came back after going two goals down against the Champions of Europe in the
UEFA Champions League.
Mondonico stated that a major part of this was due to the hard work done by Antonio Conte during the week leading up to the match, but he stated that Carrera was taking the most out of this situation.
He went on to comment:
“You could see he was aiming towards this next phase of his career and I think he’s doing it in the best possible way. Of course we mustn’t forget that if Juventus are continuing to do well, then it is thanks to the work of Conte throughout the week. It
has to be said Carrera is a calm, relaxed and above all competent figure on the touchline. You can tell he knows what needs to be done.”
Carrera’s next challenge will be up against Chievo Verona who have always been a tricky side to deal with.
