Massimo Cellino expresses delight on start to the season and reveals stadium plans: Serie A news
Cagliari President, Massimo Cellino, is delighted with his team’s start to the 2011/12 Serie A campaign and is looking forward to the next game.
The Isolani have picked up wins in their opening two games of the season so far and are on second place in the table equal on points with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, Juventus and Udinese. This is the best start for the Rossoblu in 41 years.
The President has asked the players to remain grounded as it is only the start of the season and there is still long way to go. Cellino has admitted that he would rather wish to be at the second spot in the final weeks of the season
rather than at the start.
Cellino said, “It is forbidden to dream. I'd be more excited if we find ourselves in second place in the penultimate week. This is only a beginning, just 180 minutes of play.”
Cagliari will face a tough test in their third game, as they travel to Palermo on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. The Patron admitted that Palermo are a very competitive unit and an extremely tough opponent to play in their own
backyard.
“Palermo is a very good team, very competitive, physically prepared, better prepared than Cagliari since they started the season before us. We're going to Sicily to give our best. Then we'll have Udinese [on Sunday], another team
that started the season before Cagliari, another strong, competitive opponent.”
The 55-year-old took time to praise his players for the fighting spirit they showed to win the opening two games and has demanded them to continue playing the same way. He also praised new manager, Massimo Ficcadenti, for his handling
of players and delivering immediate results.
The Chief is in his 20th year in control of the club and has promised the players and the fans that they will get a new stadium in the near future. Cellino believes that the club’s future depends a lot on having a new
stadium as the new facilities will really help his team.
