The Cagliari President blasts his team for their poor showing against A.C Milan and expects better performances in the future
Cagliari President, Massimo Cellino, has rejected talks linking inspirational midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radja-Nainggolan-c30301, with a move to Juventus.
Nainggolan has attracted interest from host of European clubs including A.C Milan and Villarreal. However, Cellino has confirmed that the Belgian star will not join the Turin giants in the ongoing January transfer window.
Recent reports in the Italian media suggested that the former Piacenza star is in advanced talks with the Old Lady and will join them in January. Cagliari sold Alessandro Matri to Juve in the last season’s winter transfer window,
and Cellino has confirmed that they will not have a similar type of deal this season. He insisted that they have not signed any replacements for the midfielder, so he will remain a Rossoblu until the end of the season.
While talking to the reporters, Cellino said,
“Last season I had to give them http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Matri-c4733 because he wanted to leave. Nainggolan wants to stay and I cannot release him, as I haven’t got any replacements. Therefore Nainggolan will not join Juventus.”
The President also blasted his team’s display in their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Champions, A.C Milan, on Sunday, January 29. Despite playing well for majority of the first-half, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s opening strike dented Cagliari’s
confidence and they slumped to a humiliating defeat.
Cellino insisted that the team played poor football and it looked like as if they were playing in the training ground. The chief has urged his team to forget about the transfer market and concentrate on playing football.
“We simply didn’t play tonight and I didn’t like it one little bit. It looked like one of those end of season matches where players already have their bags packed for the beach. Now the transfer market is coming to a close, so
hopefully we can get back to actually playing football.” said the patron.
After an impressive start to the season, back-to-back defeats have seen the Rossoblu drop to the 15th spot in the league table. They have picked up 23 points from 20 matches played thus far.
