Massimo Meregalli, Wilco Zeelenberg explain Yamaha preparations for Assen – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing team director Massimo Meregalli and team manager Wilco Zeelenberg explained how Yamaha is prepared for the Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix.
The Dutch event is the seventh round of the MotoGP 2011 season.
The occasion is also important because Yamaha Factory are celebrating their 50th anniversary in Grand Prix racings. Yamaha factory M1s will have a new red and white livery for the occasion which will also be seen at the Laguna Seca round in US.
Yamaha team director Massimo Meregalli said, “This is the first of our 50th anniversary race celebrations, I am proud to be part of this unique event and to be a part of Yamaha at this time. The Assen circuit should be good for us this weekend.”
He anticipates that the factory bikes will prove to be a tough competition for rivals as the track layout also complements the bike characteristics.
Meregalli praised the team effort to prepare for the Dutch GP. He is also looking forward to gather fans to display the new livery on M1s and all over the garage and crew uniforms.
Recalling the Silverstone event, he said that in dry conditions the race settings were working very well but wet day hindered the performances of factory riders.
He is confident to resume their development at the Assen circuit as he keenly looks forward to the start of the race weekend.
Team Manger at Yamaha, Wilco Zeelenberg is working hard to give Casey Stoner a hard time at the Dutch GP. He will be supporting the new red-white livery at Assen.
Yamaha Team Manager, Wilco Zeelenberg said, “We’ve been looking forward to Assen because of our special livery, I love the bike in white and red. We are currently second in the Championship which is not such a bad position; we will see if we can put some
heat on the feet of Casey.”
Zeelenberg called Lorenzo’s Silverstone accident a mistake which resulted in an 18-points gap from new championship leader Casey Stoner. Lorenzo has been successful at the venue so it will be helpful for him to regain his lead over the Aussie rider.
