The Inter Milan Chief Executive has given his backing to the Nerazzurri head-coach, insisting that one man cannot be blamed for the performances of the whole team.
Inter Milan have been in the headlines in the recent past, and the reasons have been extremely diverse.
The San Siro outfit began their campaign with an indifferent start to the season, and replaced Gian Piero Gasperini with Claudio Ranieri in September 2011. After that, they went on a streak of seven consecutive
wins, and talks were rampant that they will be pushing for the Scudetto.
However, any such talks have since been quashed, all in part to their abysmal run of late, which has seen the Nerazzurri lose seven of their last eight matches. Besides this statistic, they have only picked
up one point from a possible 18 on offer. This has pitted the Beneamata in the 7th position with the 10th placed Chievo not far behind.
The Nerazzurri fans have jeered their team’s performance at San Siro, and there is immense pressure on Beneamata patron, Moratti. The fans have called for the sacking of Ranieri, however, Moratti states that
he has belief in the manager, and has held talks with him.
Remarking on the speculation, Moratti said:
“I heard that said about all the games. That is not the case. When you put faith in someone, you do it, and naturally there is the hope that things will go well.”
Having faith in the manager did not mean that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan team could continue this streak, the oil baron stressed that the manager knows that things need to change and that every game is important. He commented:
“It is very important to do well and Ranieri knows that too. Everything is certainly not tied to a single match, but at the moment every game weighs very heavily if it goes badly.”
In his interview with Telelombardia, the San Siro chief was questioned who was to blame for the situation at hand. He commented:
“No, not individuals. It is a general downward spiral that needs to be stopped.”
Moratti has been extremely supportive of his manager, but it remains to be seen how long this faith would last.
