The Nerazzurri president hints that a UEFA Champions League qualification can extend the young coach’s stay with the senior side.
Massimo Moratti has suggested that Stramaccioni may continue as Inter Milan manager into the next season, if the team manages to win a place in the next edition of the European tournament.
The Nerazzurri are currently placed sixth in the Serie A points table, three points behind the third-placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 with four games left to be played in the league.
The Milan outfit remain unbeaten under the Claudio Ranieri replacement, and their latest win against Udinese has seen them take over AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 in the league standings.
The target once looked impossible for the team, but the general slip from all the teams in the contention of the spot, coupled with some promising performances from the Nerazzurri has seen the team move to within touching distance
of the final European qualification spot in the league.
Moratti has now suggested that the elite tournament is the objective of the team for the season, and reaching there could give the young manager a more vital lifeline at the club.
The Nerazzurri president insisted that objectives are a tool to motivate the players and the manager to do their best. He admitted that the team did exceedingly well in the triumph over Udinese, and extolled the manager’s winning
strategy in the game.
While talking to the press, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan chief said:
“That's one way to look at it - it's always good to set objectives because it's a motivation to constantly do better. The maths for reaching third also depend on the results, so we'll see. Yesterday's test [at Udinese] was a good
one, certainly very good on the part of the Coach above all, and on the part of the players who expressed themselves exactly how the Coach wanted.”
Moratti refrained from announcing his verdict on Stramaccioni, suggesting that the oblivion will help the team as well as the players to do their best in the remaining matches. However, he hinted that the future of Stramaccioni
hangs in the balance, and his opinion could tip either way depending on the performance of the team in the remaining matches.
