Massmiliano Allegri calls for patience ahead of Sampdoria clash
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has told his team to be patient as they play their seventh fixture of the month against Sampdoria on Saturday 27 November.
After losing 2–1 to Juventus on 30 October, Milan's hectic November schedule has seen them draw Real Madrid 2–2 at the San Siro on 3 November before earning five important wins.
Among the team's victories were the 1–0 derby triumph against Inter Milan on 14 November and their 2–0 win against AJ Auxerre on 23 November, the latter securing Milan's place in the Champions League's round of 16.
After Saturday's fixture, the team will enjoy a week-long break before their next league fixture against Brescia on 4 December.
"It will be a delicate game as we have played every three days with a great expenditure of energy," Allegri told reporters ahead of the trip to Genoa.
"Saturday will be our final push of this every period of playing every three days and then we will be able to prepare games once a week."
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic's opening goal having come in the 58th minute of the team's resilient performance against Auxerre, Allegri said that his team will not be pressured into settling their next away fixture early on.
"There is no rush to get a result early in the game. We have to be careful and patient, as we are tired physically and mentally."
Sampdoria still a threat without Cassano
Sampdoria, who are in eighth place in the table ahead of the game against the league leaders, recently terminated star striker Antonio Cassano's contract after a row with chairman
Riccardo Garrone.
"Antonio is an extraordinary player and he can decide a game any minute," said Allegri, who expected a dedicated display from Saturday's opponents.
"Without him [Sampdoria] will be careful, they will be compact."
