Question:

Master's of Public Administration or MBA?

I'm presently looking at different graduate programs and want to pursue a career where making money isn't the ultimate bottom line. That is, I would like to have a cause to work toward. Which degree would be better for this? Would the MPA be too limiting? Can anyone with an MBA do any job requiring an MPA? Can I support a family in the future with an MPA-related career?

  1. With either one, you need work experience first.  By the sound of your post, you don't seem to have done this yet.  I would suggest you get into the non-profit arena and work a few years, then think about a masters program.  You'll then have a clear idea of what direction you want to go into.
