Master Overseer expertly took charge of the Majordomo Hospitality Handicap Chase
The David Pipe trained, Master Overseer, was highly impressive in the Grade 3 Majordomo Hospitality Handicap Chase. This was the first success of the season for the nine-year-old bay gelding after getting pulled up in the Read Nicholls And McCain Exclusively
On Betfair Handicap Chase on 24th November, 2012 at Haydock race course over three miles and four furlongs.
With the guidance of jockey, Tom Scudamore, the duo defeated Quartz De Thaix, by ¾ of a length.
In the field of twenty fences, Master Overseer took the lead right after a flawless flight over the first fence. He was still in the lead when the thirteenth flight was just on the horizon.
He led the field until the sixteenth fence and then had to share the leading glory, but only temporarily as he headed the last flight, riding over Quartz De Thaix.
The runner-up was truly challenging and even gained a negligible lead, but was pulled back by the eventual winner soon.
Pipe said: "He's the slowest horse in the yard, but he's the most honest. It helped that Midnight Chase was withdrawn, as he could be out in front on his own. Even if the race was over six miles, he'd keep going.”
"He's getting to the level where we'd have to think about the Grand National. He just might be too slow for it."
The connections are extremely glad at the performance of their under charge who according to them is the slowest in the yard. Sometimes, it is not the swiftness that comes handy while in the field, rather the winning agent often is the composition of the
form and the maintenance of the set stance.
Any statements as to his future targets have not been made public by the connections yet. However, the choice will not be very difficult now as the nine-year-old bay gelding out of, Crogeen Lass, has put forth for the connections the type of trip that will
suit him.
He has been in the racing profession since 2007 and has won at multiple occasions.
He closed the last season with a success in the Betfred Midlands Grand National Chase Handicap on 17th March, 2012 at Uttoxeter race course over four miles and 1 ½ furlongs.
