Master Wells competes in the Yeovil College Selling Hurdle at Taunton after a break of 3 years
Taunton is hosting the Yeovil College Selling Hurdle on 1st March, 2012. The 9 runners will be competing on a track of 2 miles, 3 furlongs and 110 yards for a purse of £2,395.
The runners in this line-up are:
American Cricket,
Duffy Moon,
Kimberlite King,
Master Wells,
Moving Wings,
Noble Crusader,
Penn Da Benn,
Small Fly, and
Valdan.
Master Wells, son of Sadler’s Wells, out of Eljazzi, has not raced since August 2009. His trainer, James Frost, is hoping that this long break will serve in the 11-year-old gelding’s favour.
He finished in 4th in the Clive Ralph Happy 60th Birthday Claiming Hurdle, at Newton Abbot, on 3rd August, 2009.
American Cricket, son of Lord Americo, out of Dixons Dutchess, performed in an outstanding manner in the season debut.
He secured a victory over Westlin’ Winds by a neck, in the Dove Selling Hurdle, at Leicester, on 10th January, 2012.
He finished 4th in the Lindley Group Events Caterers Novices’ Handicap Chase, at Ffos Las, on 29th
January, 2012.
Noble Crusader, son of Giant’s Causeway, out of Suitably Discreet, finished 8th in a line-up of 14, in the Henley Hall Gold Cup Handicap Hurdle, at Ludlow, on 22nd February, 2012.
Kimberlite King, son of Good Thyne, out of Daraheen Diamond, pulled up from his seasonal debut and could not complete race due to an injury.
The 10-year-old gelding was a prominent runner and looked promising before he acquired the injury.
Small Fly, son of Humbel, out of Tworow, has the potential to lead but he may not have all it takes to win, unless he brings his best game forward.
He finished in third place in his seasonal debut, in the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Hurdle, which was held at Exeter, on 1st January, 2012.
Based on the betting odds, it looks like the Master Wells will be one of the leaders. The punters are confident about his form, overlooking the fact that he has not raced in a long time.
If a prediction was to be made solely on performance, then American Cricket is likely to secure the first place with winning odds of 9 to 4.
He is also gaining popularity in the market as he enjoys the status of being race favourite.
Noble Crusader also looks promising despite his previous performance. His winning odds have been calculated as 11 to 4.
The third place is likely to be acquired by Kimberlite King.
