MasterCard extends its sponsorship deal with Arnold Palmer Invitational – Golf News
MasterCard, the presenting sponsor for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, has announced his extension as a sponsor for the tournament till the staging of the event in 2016.
The event is a charity tournament held each year with the aim to benefit the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.
The proceeds from the tournament are donated to different hospitals.
While announcing the extension deal, MasterCard’s President for the US Markets, Chris McWilton, said that it as an honour for the organisation to be working with the event since 2004.
“While golf is a true passion for many of our cardholders, we’ve experienced first-hand the impact this tournament has on families across the southeast. We look forward to the continued success of this tournament, one of the crown jewels of the TOUR’s Florida
Swing,” McWilton said.
According to the legendary golf player, Arnold Palmer, the event raised $1.8 million in the first nine years of partnership with MasterCard.
Therefore, he looks forward to a successful staging of the event in the next four years too.
Moreover, it will help him provide a platform to the players and fans to enjoy the game of golf while playing an important role for the betterment of the hospital.
Tim Finchem, The PGA Tour Commissioner, expressed his pleasure about how MasterCard has shown its continuous commitment and dedication in the successful staging of the event every year, with an aim to support the Arnold and Winnie Palmer hospitals.
“MasterCard has been an active sponsor on the PGA TOUR for a number of years, developing a variety of creative campaigns and promotions, and we look forward to continuing this outstanding relationship,” he said.
Apart from the renewal of the sponsorship deal, the MasterCard officials have also announced an extra donation.
The donation will go to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies if any of MasterCard’s professional golf ambassador will participate in the event.
The invitations have been sent out to the ambassadors and their response is yet to come. The organisation will donate an extra amount of $200,000 in the case of confirmation from any player.
