  1. You can get a plethora of jobs with a degree in psychology. Human resources, advertising and marketing, education, management, information technology, game development, and counseling all utilize psych principles.

It takes about 4 years for a Bachelors degree and an additional two years for a Masters degree.

  2. I'm a little confused about your question on the number of years it takes to get a Masters Degree.  It takes 2 years beyond the Bachelors Degree to obtain your Masters, so yes, 6 total, but not 6 just for the Masters Degree.  In other words, it take 4 years to get the Bachelors Degree another 2 for the Masters, and 2 more for the Ph.D.

What can you do with a Masters in Psychology?  Well, that depends on what area of Psychology you are focusing on.  A Masters in General Psychology will allow you to work in clinics doing assessments and intake interviews and possibly even therapy, but you would have to be under the direct supervision of someone with a Ph.D.  You would also have to obtain your license to counsel clients.

A Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology would allow you to counsel clients without having to be under direct supervision of somebody with a Ph.D.  You would still however, need to pass board exams and get licensed.

A Masters in Industrial and Organizational Psychology would lead you to a job in Business, Consulting, or Government- usually working closely with those in the Human Resources Department.

A Masters in Cognitive Psychology, Health Psychology, etc.  would allow you to do research assistantships.
