Mat Hoffman offers tribute to his “Jackass” co-star Ryan Dunn
The celebrated BMX rider from America and crew member of “Jackass”, Mat Hoffman paid tribute to his late “Jackass” co-star and friend, Ryan Dunn, on Saturday morning.
The 39-year-old vert-ramp legend allocated the entire homepage of his official website to a composition that he has written about Dunn titled “Ryan Dunn – 430 words of Love.”
In the lovely piece of writing, Hoffman, also known as the Condor, talked about the joy of knowing and working with someone as amazing as the 34-year-old Dunn, as well as the pain of losing him so early. Evidently overwhelmed by emotions, the BMX star has
filled the page with an abundance of praises for his mate, using a language that would have even made even the likes of Dunn blush.
In his tribute to his daredevil friend, Hoffman wrote, “We are all so lucky because of Ryan. If it weren't for Ryan I would never know this elevated state of cool, calm and collectiveness in the midst of complete archaic ridiculousness. There will never
be another Ryan Dunn and we are all so lucky he gave us so much. This mold was broken.”
According to him, Dunn happened to be an extremely cool person, possessing the nerves of steel to handle anything thrown his way.
Appearing alongside Dunn in various “Jackass” stunts, the Condor admits of getting inspired by his colleague’s fearless attitude and persistence.
In his “430 words of Love”, Hoffman revealed that he often feels quite shattered and frustrated over the fact that he had to lose Dunn. However, it is slowly dawning upon him that he is being extremely selfish by thinking of the loss only and not cherishing
the good memories that he has with his friend.
“I drill myself that the only thing I can control is the memory I have when I think of the loss. I’m in the process of replacing this feeling of devastation and tragedy to memories of all the amazing times Ryan gave us, “said the vert-ramp specialist.
Dunn, who was a core member of the “Jackass” television and movie series for the past decade, died on June 20th. Reportedly, he was driving with the production assistant on Jackass Number Two, Zachary Hartwell, at around 3:30 am on State Route
322. According to the investigation report, the “Jackass” crew member was behind the steering wheel.
Suddenly, he lost control of the vehicle which eventually got off the road to slam into a tree and catch fire in West Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Neither Dunn nor Hartwell survived the crash and resulting fire.
The toxicology report showed Dunn’s blood alcohol level to be 0.196%, which is more than twice the legal driving limit in Pennsylvania. The police reports also revealed that he was driving at a speed which was somewhere between 132-140 miles per hour.
A private memorial service was held in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with his “Jackass” co-stars in attendance.
