Chelsea attacker and Spanish international, Juan Mata has admitted that England could go on and surprise everyone in the upcoming Euro 2012.
Given the problems that England have been having with their squad and the injuries that their key players have picked up, everyone is assuming that the Three Lions are going to have a very hard time, coming out on top in the Euros.
However, Mata seems to think that England are well equipped to beat the odds and admitted that he wouldn’t be surprised to see the team go on and make it all the way to the finals.
“I don't know whether the change of manager for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 will affect the team," Mata told reporters.
"People say Hodgson's system is different to Capello. But the key is how the players will adapt."
He then went on to talk about the fact that the team had plenty of players who could cause just about anyone problems and that is why, it was too unpredictable to guess what the team would do in the future.
"For me, England will always be on the list of candidates for the title," he continued. "They have a great history and also the players are at a great level.
"England's strengths are the quality of players and the physical strengths in the team. They always fight for the ball. The desire is sensational.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 player then revealed that he talked about making the finals with Spain, while his English team mates made it with England, just to have a chance to play against each other.
"After the Euros draw, we spoke a lot at Chelsea about possible matches. English players say they don't want us in the quarter-finals. But we looked at the draw and that will not be easy either."
Both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and England are going to have to overcome a lot of tough opponents on their way to the finals, if they are to stand any chance of winning the tournament.
However, at this point, Spain are probably going to be considered as the team that is more likely to win the competition as opposed to England.
