Matabeleland Tuskers v Mountaineers: Castle Logan Cup – Tuskers win by 106 runs – Match Update

The Mountaineers needed 199 runs for victory, but were bowled out cheaply for 92 runs on the final day. Only three batsmen in the innings managed to reach double figures with a highest score of 29 from lower-order player Shingi Masakadza.
Earlier, the Tuskers’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gavin-Ewing-c1472 opted to bat first after winning the toss. His decision proved to be a very good one, as the team posted a decent first innings total of 306 runs.
Ewing was the top scorer for his side, justifying his decision at the toss. He played extremely well, collecting 102 runs in the innings. The classy knock included 18 boundaries.
Apart from that, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KM-Dabengwa-c1800 contributed some solid runs to the total. They scored 59 and 67respectively with the latter remaining unbeaten until the end.

The reply was also not bad by the team, as they ended up with 294 runs in their first outing. They would have liked to end up with a first innings lead, but fell 12 runs short of the opposition’s total.
Veteran Zimbabwean batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517 top scored the innings for the Mountaineers, collecting 75 runs in his outing. He lacked support from the other end though, as none of his team-mates managed to score a half-century.

The Tuskers struggled in their second outing and managed just 186 runs before being all out. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KO-Meth-c1803 ended up being the highest scorer for his side with an unbeaten 41, which helped the side gain an overall lead of 198 runs.
Shingi Masakadza did a very good job with the ball this time around for his side, as he scalped four wickets.
However, the Mountaineers failed to score even 100 runs, as they were bundled up for 92 in their second innings.
The team was yet again troubled by Mpofu, who dismissed four batsmen this time around.
