Mark Pettini and Timycen Maruma chipped in with valiant half-tons to put the Mountaineers on solid ground, but Glen Querl’s 5-wicket haul ensured that the Matabeleland Tuskers managed to bowl their opponents out for 264 on Day 1 of their ongoing match in
the Logan Cup, on October 30 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tino-Mawoyo-c2683 and Kevin Kasuza, but Querl (20.1-4-56-5) struck early, and took Kasuza out on duck in the second over.
However, Mawoyo managed to contribute an individual score of 43, in addition to teaming up with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517 (32) for a 63-run stand for the second wicket. Their partnership came to an end in the 21st over, with H Masakadza bowled by Moeen
Ali (21-3-51-2), but his successor Mark Pettini chipped in with a solid 58, in addition to joining forces with Mawoyo for a 41-run partnership.
Querl claimed Mawoyo for his second victim of the day in the 38th over, caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GA-Lamb-c1450, who only managed a 12-run contribution before Ali intervened
to send him packing in the 49th over.

163 for 5.
The remainder of the batsmen registered a string of disappointing performances, eventually giving their wickets up without much of a fight, but Maruma remained the anchor of the team’s innings amid a flurry of falling wickets.
Wicketkeeper Dan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Donald-Tiripano-c1393 was bowled
on 9, Maruma finally caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sean-Ervine-c2471 off Querl, and Natsai M’shangwe (17) was caught out by Brian Chari in the 90th over.
The final dismissal saw Tendai Chatara (16*) remaining the lone figure at the crease, and by the end of 90 overs, the Mountaineers were all out at 264. The Tuskers kicked off their innings with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Terry-Duffin-c2657 (4*) and Brian Chari (1*), and managed to reach
5 for 0 by stumps on Day 1, trailing by 259 runs, with 10 wickets still remaining.
