Matabeleland Tuskers v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Southern-Rocks-c845 – Logan Cup – Match Update – Tuskers win by 10 wickets
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matabeleland-Tuskers-c815 then went on to chase down with ease, claiming a comfortable 10-wicket win in their first-class match during the ongoing Logan Cup,
played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from November 13 to 16.
The Rocks had kicked the match off on day 1 by choosing to bat after winning the toss. However, the Tuskers’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Slater-c1141 (37) remained the top-scorer
for his team, while Peter Burgoyne (30) and Kudzai Maunze (26) chipped in with small contributions. However, only six batsmen in total managed to contribute double-digit scores. The force of the Tuskers’ attack proved too much to handle, and the Rocks found
themselves all out at 152 on day one.
While the Tuskers innings also featured just six batsmen who reached double figures, the team managed to post a solid first innings total of 380, courtesy Glen Querl (188*), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TN-Garwe-c2695
(18-5-52-2), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tafadzwa-Kamungozi-c92576 (18.3-1-84-2) and Peter Burgoyne (11-0-46-2) all claimed two wickets each, but their attack was not able to nip the few crucial individual performances in the bud. By the time they managed to bowl out the Tuskers, the score
had swelled to 380.
The Rocks managed a comparatively better performance during their second innings, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kudzai-Maunze-c1816 (30) also managed to contribute solid scores – however, the
remainder of the batting order were not able to capitalise on their starts.
Under the pressure of having to post a daunting target for the Tuskers to chase, the Rocks eventually caved under the force of Querl (18-5-31-4) and Ali (29-8-73-3), and found themselves all out at 292, setting their opponents a meagre 65-run target.
Predictably, the Tuskers faced no difficulties in the chase, and openers Duffin (37*) and Brian Chari (30*) easily got the team up to 67, with 10 wickets remaining.
